From my comfy bed.

I've been running around like a crazy woman for the past week. I had an interview last week and I'm waiting to hear if I got the job or not (fingers crossed). I spent an entirely-too-hot day on the beach Saturday and a caught up on my cleaning Sunday. On Monday I sold a few things to Plato's Closet in Deptford and got a sweet pair of BDG jeans, I'm in love. I'm finishing up putting my internship portfolio together at work for the next two days and washing my hands of that crazy place once and for all. On top of that, I've been busy with bridal shower planning & trying on bridesmaids dresses!

What a week.

But now I'm run down from an intense workout and bloating, and what better to pick me up than daydreaming about the clothes I wish I could buy? Here's an outfit that I dreamed up from my ModCloth wishlist:

Mmm, this would be perfect for another 90 degree day. I love throwing aqua blue and red together; it seems off at first but looks lovely when paired in the right amount.

Happy week!

Thrifting success

The weekend is (unfortunately) over once again, so let me fill you in on mine. Yesterday I found an adorable little watch and some gorgeous multi-purpose scarves at the thrift store. The scarves were only a dollar each, score!

I've already found a handful of ways to use them as hair, purse, and neck accessories, I can't wait to share!

As I've mentioned before, Sundays are my favorite. Today my grandmom and I went to Atlantic City to shop the outlets and I played my very first slot machine. Shopping = good. Slot machines = bad. I bought a super precious polka-dot dress from H&M and gorgeous salmon sandals from Naturalizer.
It was a much needed pick-me-up after being sick all last night, eck.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Homemade Granola!

I have a tasty treat to share with you all! My very favorite homemade granola recipe :D I originally found it in a Martha Stewart magazine and made a few alterations of my own. It's so simple to make!

Here's what you'll need:

3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
Dash of salt
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 cups old-fashioned oats
2 cups chopped pecans (or walnuts)
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut

Here's what you do:

1. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. Whisk together syrup, sugar, oil, salt, and cinnamon. Add oats, pecans and coconut. Toss well so all the dry ingredients are coated.

2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the granola recipe evenly. Bake, stirring every twenty minutes, 45 minutes total. The granola will be golden brown. Let it cool completely and store in an airtight container. Ta da!

I like to divide mine into glass jars and give them to my friends and family (who are always requesting more!) It's great to snack on by the handful, pour milk over in the morning, or add to yogurt. Enjoy!

In other news, I'm working three days this week (hence the lack of updating) and perhaps another two or three days next week and I'm done! I have an interview on Friday, wish me luck!

Sunday, Funday

I woke up with no agenda this morning so I shlumped around the kitchen fumbling with coffee and waffles. Naturally, I was thrilled when I got an invite to go to the Philadelphia Art Museum with my lovely cousin & her fiance. So I put on this precious Forever 21 floral dress and super adorable minty-green belt (that I found at the thrift store for a dollar...seriously!)

Somehow I always forget that the city feels about a hundred degrees hotter than home.

It was a lovely day of strolling through ancient paintings and artifacts. I decided that my favorite artist (this week) is Paul Cezanne, particularly his later work that transitioned into the 19th century. My favorite: Mount Sainte Victoire. It's amazing when it's in front of you and you can appreciate every little brush stroke. I strongly encourage everyone to visit it!

After the museum we ate at a cute little bar/restaurant. I had a heaping plate of chicken nachos that really bogged me down for the rest of the day. I've been so inspired all day I'm going to paint tonight! Happy Sunday!

It's raining, it's pouring!

What a nasty day! The past few days have been beautiful, hot and sunny. Today, however, is all gloom and doom complete with plenty of thunder. So naturally I curled my hair & put on some lipstick to feel a little fancy.

So I'm thinking I'd like to start uploading outfits to lookbook.nu, but I'm having an awfully hard time taking good outfit pictures. It's always too much sun or too little, bad backdrops, etc. Advice, please!
I'd also like to get into the swing of blogging - getting more focused and getting some followers. Maybe some giveaways! For all you experience bloggers, please guide me :]

And last but certainly not least, I'd like you all to meet my little man, baby Jack!

He's super precious but did NOT want to be in this picture. I hope everyone's having better weather than me! Happy week!

Happy Fourth!

I had a lovely, relaxing weekend full of food and family! I love visiting upstate PA for weekends of endless trees, barns, and mountains. The photos above are from my car ride home.

And as promised, I finally uploaded pictures of some of the freebies I collected in NYC at the HBA Global last week! I got a sample pack of the Zia skin basics skin care line and I absolutely love it! I'm definitely going to buy a full size herbal moisture gel - it makes my skin feel so fresh and non-greasy. I also recommend trying the Bell Lash Explosion Extra Volume Mascara, it makes my lashes look endlessly long!
No work for me this week, so I'll be non-stop thrifting, practicing sewing, and hopefully blogging! Have a happy fourth, everyone!

Week-END!

This has been a crazy, tiring hell of a week. The good news is I got to sleep in this morning and not go to work :]

Last night I finally finished (drum roll, please...) My inspiration board! I'm really happy with the way it turned out. So I officially sent it in along with my resume in hopes that I'll be interning at UO in the fall! Wish me luck!

Now I'm on my way to visit my family for the weekend in upstate PA, I'll be back Monday! Have a lovely weekend, darlings!
